About

The team building Korely

Korely is a small team building a knowledge base that keeps your notes, meetings, and tasks in one place, searchable on your own machine, and reachable by every AI assistant you use through an open protocol. The short version of why we built it: we wanted a tool shaped like this, we could not find one we were happy with, and we set out to make it.

Why Korely

Why Korely

Knowledge work today happens across at least four tools: one for notes, one for meeting recordings, one for tasks, one for the AI that ties any of it together. The work piles up, the context fragments, and the AI you talk to in the morning has no memory of the meeting you had yesterday afternoon.

Korely is one place for all of it. Notes live as Markdown files in a folder on your machine. Meetings get recorded, transcribed, and recapped next to those notes. Tasks are created from inside the notes and show up in three views (Inbox, Today, Upcoming). The whole vault is searchable in milliseconds and reachable by any AI assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol. One source of truth, many ways to interact with it.

What we believe

What we believe

Three commitments shape the way Korely is built. They are also why the architecture looks the way it does.

  • Your vault stays on your machine by default. Free Korely runs entirely on your laptop. No upload step, no cloud processor in the chain. The most private posture is the resting state.
  • Cloud is a choice, not a requirement. Pro adds an opt-in cloud copy of the vault for cross-device sync. The cloud copy is encrypted in transit and at rest, scoped to your account. Your password is the key, the cloud is the cabinet, the data inside is unreadable to anyone without the key. You can turn cloud sync off and the app keeps working with everything still on disk.
  • Your AI tools should plug into your data, not the other way around. Korely ships an open MCP server so every assistant that speaks the protocol can read, and on Pro write, to your vault. No vendor lock-in between the note app and the AI.

From the founder

Why I started building this

A normal day for me used to look like this: a call at 9, another at 10, another at 11, another at 12. By lunchtime my brain was already a blur of names, decisions, and follow-ups from four different clients. I would spend the lunch break rewriting notes from memory and the afternoon trying to remember what was actually said. That cognitive load, every week, is the thing I wanted to remove.

Of every note app I tried over three or four years, none solved the real problem: connecting the notes and meetings to each other, pulling out the names and decisions that recur across clients, and letting an AI tool query the whole thing without an upload step. Meetings, tasks, notes were always in different apps, and the AI tools could not see any of it. So I built Korely. Today it is the layer of memory I keep on my own laptop, that every AI assistant I use can read and write to.
